Dr Cintia Oi on their recent visit to New York for the recent Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory meeting on the Biology & Genomics of Social Insects.
Seirian, Rahia, and I traveled to the US for this conference. We also got to visit some touristic spots in Manhattan (The Metropolitan, High Line, Statue of Liberty), and learn about Rahia’s fav places (as she previously lived there)! We also visited the American Museum of Natural History to see Jim Carpenter, and the Rockefeller University (Daniel Kronauer’s lab).
Seirian was an invited plenary speaker and delivered a fantastic talk! Only 7 of the approximately 100 attendees were wasp-affectionate (including me and Seirian). My talk was at 10.30 pm on the first day (which was too late!) and Rahia gave a great talk about her burying beetles, and she was inspired to work with wasps in the near future!!!
The facilities there were amazing, and you were fully immersed in the conference, with constant opportunities to chat with inspiring people!! A little pricey, but worth it!
